Just like the films the franchise started out parodying, there seems to be no end to Scary Movie sequels. Dimension Films is ramping up for a fifth installment in the comedy series and has announced that High School Musical‘s Ashley Tisdale will be heading up the cast. Anna Farris played the role of “Funny Blonde Girl” in the previous four films of the franchise.
Reportedly the films that this installment will be poking fun of include Black Swan, Paranormal Activity, 127 Hours and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. And with Tisdale’s involvement I suppose a musical number wouldn’t be entirely unexpected.
You would think that the involvement of Airplane! co-writer/co-direct David Zucker as a writer and produer would actually bode well until you remember that he wrote and directed Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 4.
Interestingly, the film is scheduled fro a January 11, 2013 release, normally a dumping ground for films the studio has no real faith in. Not very encouraging for a project that hasn’t even shot a frame of film yet.
