As co-creator of a little television show called Seinfeld and creator and star of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David has certainly carved out a place for himself in comedy history. But he has never had much crossover success in the world film. That could change however very soon as David is in negotiations to star in an unnamed project that will be directed by Superbad and Paul helmer Greg Motolla.
Details about the film are being kept under wraps, but the Hollywood Reporter is saying that the script is being written by Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel and will allow room for improvisation. The writing trio has worked with the David before on Seinfeld and Curb and have also written the improv-based Bruno and the new recently released The Dictator for Sacha Baron Cohen.
I’m not really sure how you could not be excited by news like this. Granted, Motolla doesn’t have the same improv experience as the rest of the group, but he is a solid comedy director so I don’t think he’ll have any trouble adapting.
