Eli Roth is sliding back into the director’s chair for The Green Inferno.
It has been five years since Roth has directed a film – Hostel II. In that time has done some producing, writing and even a little bit of acting while trying to get another directorial project off the ground. One of those acting jobs was in the upcoming thriller Aftershock for director Nicolas Lopez and supposedly the story is inspired by his time making the film in Chile. He has already written the screenplay with Aftershock’s co-writer Guillermo Amoedo.
While it has been interesting to watch Roth stretch his muscles in other directions, such as his acting stints in Tarantino’s Grindhouse segment Death Proof and Inglorious Basterds, I have been hoping to see what his next film will be like. I found a lot of subtext to admire in Hostel II and I am not one who generally likes horror films. We’re not even sure what genre this film will be, but I can not wait to see what he brings to the table.
Production is expected to start in the fall in Chile.
