Channing Tatum In Talks For WHITE HOUSE DOWN

Channing Tatum may be saving the President of the United States and the White House. The 21 Jump Street actor is currently in negotiations with Columbia to headline their action-thriller White House Down. Tatum will star as a Secret Service agent who finds himself trying to protect the President during a terrorist attack on the White House.

The studio and director Roland Emmerich are in a race to get the project to the screen before Mellinium’s similarly-themed terrrorists-attack-the-White House film Olympus Has Fallen, which currently has Gerard Butler and Antoine Fuqua attached to star and direct.

Now, the draft of James Vanderbilt’s script that I’ve read had a tone that recalls the original Die Hard and that leads me to ask, “Is Channing Tatum really the guy for this role?” Now I have to admit that I missed Tatum’s last movie, 21 Jump Street, which may just be the best indicator if he can handle the role. Hopefully he has the chops for the project.
