David Gordon Green’s SUSPIRIA Remake Begins Casting

Last October at the New York Comic Con David Gordon Green stated that although there had not been much news about his planned remake of the classic 1977 Dario Argento horror thriller Suspiria he was still trying to get funding for the project. Well, the money must be in place, as news comes today that casting for the film has begun.

According to Deadline, Green is starting his search for the film’s heroine, Suzie, an American ballet student who journeys to a prestigious German dance school only to discover that there are very sinister things going on behind the institution’s doors. Jessica Harper played the role in the 1977 original.

“We love the style and energy of the original film – and David’s script brilliantly updates the world, presenting a rare opportunity to create an elegant, classic horror film,” producers Adam Ripp and Rob Paris of Crime Scene Pictures, one of the production companies helping to bank roll the project said in a press statement.

Green is looking for a September production start, so we can expect more casting news through the spring and summer.
