It’s been nearly a quarter of a century since Robert DeNiro first tried comedy in the action comedy Midnight Run. And it is looking like his bounty hunter character of Jack Walsh is coming back to the big screen in a sequel from Universal. Unfortunately, the bad news is that the studio is in negotiations with Rush Hour and X-Men 3 director Brett Ratner to helm the film.
Deadline is reporting that in addition to Ratner coming on board, David Elliot and Paul Lovett have been brought in to do a rewrite on the script. Previously, the duo have written the action film Four Brothers and had done some work on G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
As of now, there s no word if Charles Grodin will reprise his character of a mob accountant whom DeNiro’s bounty hunter character transports across the country, though the retired actor has indicated that he would be interested in returning if they wanted him.
