Anthony Head has landed the role of Chrion in Fox 2000’s upcoming Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea Of Monsters. The Buffy The Vampire Slayer star replaces former James Bond Pierce Brosnan in the role of a centaur who is charge of Camp Half-Blood, a training ground for the modern day demi-god children of the Greek gods. Brosnan appeared in the Percy Jackson franchise’s initial installment The Lightening Thief.
Head is not the first actor to be replacing someone from the first film’s cast. Nathan Fillion was cast last week to play Hermes, who was briefly seen in the original played by Dylan Neal.
Based on Rick Riordan’s young adult book series, the franchise centers on the titular Percy (Logan Lerman), who learns that his father is actually Poseidon and that he has powers that are granted to all the half-human children of the Olympian gods. It also means that he is frequently drawn into their various intrigues.
Lerman’s co-stars from 2010’s The Lightening Thief, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson and Jake Abel, will all be returning for the next installment which is schedule for 2013. Thor Freudenthal will be taking over directorial duties from Chris Columbus.
