Jessica Biel has joined the cast of the upcoming Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho. She will be playing the role of actress Vera Miles, whose character in the 1960 classic thriller was the sister of star Janet Leigh. Scarlett Johansson will be playing Leigh.
Sacha Gervasi’s film will cover the backstage drama that Hitchcock encountered while trying to turn Robert Bloch’s novel into a film. Simultaneously, the film will also follow the story of Ed Gein, the serial killer on whom Bloch based his book. John J. McLaughlin’s screenplay landed on the Black List in 2007 and very wittily has Hitchcock breaking the fourth wall to make dry asides to the audience in keeping with his on-screen persona as host of the television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
Anthony Hopkins will be starring as Hitchcock with Helen Mirren set to play Hitch’s wife and often un-sung collaborator Alma. James D’Arcy will be playing Psycho star Anthony Perkins. There has been no word yet as to who will be playing Gein.
