Comedy screenwriter Etan Cohen is in negotiations with Paramount to make his directorial debut with the horror-comedy Boy Scouts Vs Zombies.
The script by Carrie Evans and Emi Mochizuki was one of many zombie-related screenplays that placed on the 2010 Black List. It centers on a troop of scouts on a camping trip find themselves caught in the middle of a zombie outbreak and there are no merit badges to show them how to survive. Paramount picked up the spec script in September 2010 with You Again director Andy Fickman attached to direct. Fickman is supposedly still attached as a producer.
Cohen has carved out a name for himself working on high concept comedy projects like this. He has worked with Ben Stiller on Tropic Thunder and the upcoming remake The Incredible Mr. Limpet. He also was one of the parade of writers who were brought in to work on Men In Black III.
Reportedly one of Cohen’s first duties on the project will be to supervise Drop Dead Gorgeous screenwriter Lona Williams’s rewrite of the script.
As of now, Paramount has not announced any hoped for release date.
