Jai Courtney, who starred in the first season of Starz’s Spartacus: Blood And Sand, has been cast in Twentieth Century Fox’s A Good Day To Die Hard. Courtney will be playing Jack, the son of Bruce Willis’ John McClane in this fifth entry in the Die Hard franchise. Courtney reportedly beat out the likes of Liam Hemsworth, Aaron Paul, D.J. Cotrona and James Badge Dale.
According to reports about the story, the film will find NYPD officer McClane traveling to Moscow to ask the authorities to free his jailed son and in true family tradition find themselves racing to stop a terrorist plot. According to a studio press release –
Jack may even be more of a hardass than his father. Despite their differences, they must work together to keep each other alive – and the world safe for democracy.
The film is set to start filming later this year for a February 13, 2013 release.
Landing the Die Hard gig is just the latest in a string of high profile roles that Courtney has landed recently.He has also been cast opposite Tom Cruise in One Shot,an adaption of the Lee Child bestselling thriller with Christopher McQuarrie directing and will also appear with Aaron Eckhart in I, Frankenstein.
