Shortlist For Oscar’s Best Foreign Language Film Announced

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced their shortlist of films eligible for the Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Academy Awards. The list consists of nine films whittled down from an initial 63 eligible titles. From this list five films will be selected as the official nominees in the category to be voted on. The Academy Award nominations will be announced on January 24th.

The nine films on the shortlist are-

  • Bullhead, Michael R. Roskam, Belgium
  • Monsieur Lazhar, Philippe Falardeau, Canada
  • Superclásico, Ole Christian Madsen, Denmark
  • Pina, Wim Wenders, Germany
  • A Separation, Asghar Farhadi, Iran
  • Footnote, Joseph Cedar, Israel
  • Omar Killed Me, Roschdy Zem, Morocco
  • In Darkness, Agnieszka Holland, Poland
  • Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale, Wei Te-sheng, Taiwan
