Laurence Fishburne has been cast in the role of Daily Planet editor Perry White in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman film The Man Of Steel. Fishburne joins the rank of Jackie Cooper, Frank Langella, Michael McKean, Lane Smith and John Hamilton as those who have portrayed the gruff editor in film or television.
The character first appeared in the 1940 comic Superman #7 and as such falls outside of the recent copyright scuffle between Warner Brothers and the estates of Superman’s creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster.
Fishburne joins a cast featuring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane as Ma Kent.
