THE MAN OF STEEL Gets A Rewrite

Superman EmblemAs the production start for Warner Brothers Superman film The Man Of Steel looms ever closer, director Zack Snyder has brought aboard writer Kurt Johnstad to give the script a quick polish. Johnstad has previously worked with Snyder on the director’s adaption of the Frank Miller graphic novel 300.

The project’s current screenplay by David Goyer has been rumored for some time to have some problems in its third act, which may have necessitated the bringing on of Johnstad. Of course, big tentpole productions like The Man Of Steel often have a number of hands work on the script before, and sometimes even after, shooting commences. Goyer has worked with Man Of Steel producer Christopher Nolan on all three of Nolan’s Batman films, though Nolan has often had his brother Jonathan Nolan take a pass through Goyer’s work.

The Man Of Steel is set to star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Daily Planet ace reporter Lois Lane, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Chris Meloni, Michael Shannon, and Harry Lennix.

That polish better be super quick. The December 2012 is a hard open. They can’t miss it. And considering the production will be rushed asit is, the longer pre-production takes, the more likely the film will suck.
