David Goyer, who has numerous genre projects to his credit, will be taking one of science-fiction cinema’s biggest stars – Godzilla. The screenwriter will be reworking David Callaham‘s script for director Gareth Edwards.
According to Deadline, producers Legendary Pictures is hoping to “approach the film and its characters in the most authentic manner possible and was smart to get a pro like Goyer on board so early in the process since he has so much experience creating franchises.”
Goyer’s resume in terms of franchises is pretty impressive, with both the Blade trilogy and Christopher Nolan’s Batman films to his credit. He is also working with Nolan on Warner Brothers new Superman film Man Of Steel. Certainly pretty impressive work. Will he be able to work that magic on Godzilla? Let’s hope so.
And say… If Legendary is looking to Goyer for his “experience creating franchises” I guess that means that they are hoping to that this will launch a whole new series of G-films. I certainly have no problems with that.
