Two-time Academy Award –winner Tom Wilkinson will be heading off to the wild west.
Variety is reporting that the actor is currently in negotiations to take the “prominent” part of a railway tycoon in the upcoming The Lone Ranger feature. Is his character a victim of some robbers that the Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer) and his faithful sidekick Tonto (Johnny Depp) are needed to track down? Perhaps his character is the behind-the-scenes villain, utilizing some robber gangs to further his own nefarious ends? Who knows? There’s no more real information on the character.
Gore Verbinski will be directing The Lone Ranger from a script by Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio, with some revisions by Revolutionary Road writer Justin Haythe.
The Lone Ranger is expected to shoot later this year after Depp wraps up his duties on Tim Burton’s big-screen adaption of the cult favorite vampire soap opera Dark Shadows and Hammer finishes his work on Tarsem Singh’s untitled Snow White film for Relativity.
