Olivia Munn has been tapped to star in comedy troupe Broken Lizard’s next feature, The Baby Maker. She’ll play the wife of a man who who realizes he has become infertile and enlists his buddies to break into a sperm bank and steal back some donations he had made years previously.
Broken Lizard member Jay Chandrasekhar is set to direct. Oddly enough, Variety is reporting that the script is not by the group as has been the case with their previous projects but is by Ice Age: The Meltdown writers Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow. I wouldn’t be surprised, though, if the screenplay has been tailored by the group to suit their own particular strengths.
Munn will star opposite Paul Schneider (Lars And The Real Girl) when the film begins shooting this summer.
When we chatted with Broken Lizard’s Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme back in December 2009, they stated that The Baby Maker was a project at the time under consideration at Warner Brothers, with Heffernan in the role of the man trying to reclaim his donated sperm.
This marks the third time that Munn will team with the comedy troupe. Previously, she had a small role in their last feature The Slammin’ Salmon as a customer in a fish restaurant. She also stars in the upcoming indie comedy Freeloaders which the group helped produce and have small roles in.
Although she’s become a geek heart throb as former host of G4’s Attack Of The Show, Munn has been starting to carve out a career as an actress over the last couple of years with appearances in Date Night and Iron Man 2 and recently landing a role in the pilot for Aron Sorkin’s new HBO series More As The Story Develops.
