With Thor now finishing its second weekend as the top film at the box office, now is a good time to be its star Chris Hemsworth. Universal must think so, as they announced at the beginning of the weekend that they’ve hired Hemsworth to be the Huntsman in their forthcoming Snow White And The Huntsman.
Hemsworth will be starring opposite Kristen Stewart in the other title role and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. Many actors were in contention for the role over the last several months, among them Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman.
The Universal project is just one of three Snow White movies being put together by studios.
Hemsworth is currently filming The Avengers, which features his Thor character teaming up with several of Marvel Studios other superhero characters. And if that is not enough Hemsworth for you, he is also a cast member in two of the films that have been searching for distribution in the wake of MGM’s bankruptcy problems – the Joss Whedon produced Cabin In The Woods, which Lionsgate has picked up for release, and the Red Dawn remake, whose release is still in limbo.
Looks like it might be a good time to be a Chris Hemsworth fan as well.
