While it didn’t make much of a splash here in the United States, British comic Rowan Atkinson’s spy spoof Johnny English has proved popular enough on the rest of the planet that a sequel has been made, titled Johnny English Reborn. To find out what has been up with the super secret agent since we last saw him in 2003 check out the trailer below.
When we’ll see it in the US is a bit of a mystery, but it is scheduled to debut in England on October 17. If you liked the first film, the trailer hints at more of the same. If you didn’t like the first film, I have to ask what you have against laughing?
I’ve been a an of Atkinson’s work for some time now. Virtually all his stuff is inspired brilliance, especially his sneering portray of several generations of the Blackadder dynasty on the classic BBC comedy series. Oddly enough, the only thing of Atkinson’s that I don’t like all that much is the slapstick Mr. Bean character. Conversely, that appears to be the thing he is known for the most in the US. Go figure.
