Red Band Trailer: BAD TEACHER

Jake Kasdan is posed to become a major comedy director. He’s got a solid filmography behind him with films like The Zero Effect, The TV Set and the brilliantly observed Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and the red band trailer for his upcoming Bad Teacher certainly shows potential at being the big hit the director has been working for.

The trailer pretty much sets up the story for you. Cameron Diaz looks like she’s turning in a performance that is at least part physical and part character work. Jason Segel looks to be his dependable, funny self and it appears as if they’ve styled Justin Timberlake to look like Glee star Matthew Morrison.

The people really under scrutiny here, though are screenwriters Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg. With some work in the American version of The Office and the flop Year One to their credit, most fans were at least puzzled, if not downright worried when they were announced as the most recent writers to tackle the long in development Ghostbusters 3. Hopefully, this is a movie where they really show off their chops and prove to everyone why they got that gig.

Class is in session with Bad Teacher on June 24.
