Christopher Smith Up For PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES

Directer Christopher Smith is rumored to be under consideration for Lionsgate’s adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s comic horror novel Pride And Prejudice And Zombies. Quiet Earth is reporting that they’ve heard from a source “inside Lionsgate” that the studio is interested in the British director taking the reins on the project.

Not too well known by American audiences, Smith has directed a handful of smaller budgeted films in England. His 2006 film Severance is an hysterical comedic take on slasher films while 2009’s Triangle is an effective thriller. I can see how Lionsgate would be interested in him directing the project based on this previous work and how he did it on a low budget. Especially considering that the Wall Street Journal has reported that David O Russell recently passed on the gig when he found out that the studio only wanted to budget the film at around $25 to $28 million.
