As the time for members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to cast their votes for the Academy Awards draws nearer, most studios are stepping up their efforts to get their eligible films into the hands of as many voters as possible. For studios with films that stand a good chance at being nominated for a Best Screenplay award, that means making those scripts available online as downloadable .PDF files. For those who like to read screenplays as a way of studying the art and craft as to how they are created, that means an opportunity to do just that with some of the year’s best.
Below is a list of some of the studios offering up their Oscar hopeful screenplays for voters’ consideration.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Twentieth Century Fox is not offering any of its screenplay hopefuls on line this year. The studio recently served a $15 million dollar copyright infringement law suit against a Long Island woman who maintained an online script library which included several Fox screenplays, many of which were probably acquired from past online Oscar campaigns by the studio.
