First Blackbeard Pic From PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 4

In case you didn’t realize it, this new picture (courtesy of the film’s Facebook page) of Ian McShane as Blackbeard in Disney’s upcoming Pirates Of The Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides hammers home the fact that the movie will be in 3D.

McShane’s Blackbeard will be in a race with Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack to find the Fountain of Youth and presumably action and hijinks will  ensue. Having been a fan of McShane since I first caught him in the BBC mystery series Lovejoy back in the 1990s, it’s been fun watching his career  blow up the way it has over the last few years based on his work on the series Deadwood. The only drawback has been that McShane has been offered only dark, serious roles and hasn’t had much opportunity to showcase his lighter side. Given the general tone of the Pirates films he may just be able to do so.
