Indie actress Greta Gerwig is in talks to appear alongside Russell Brand in the upcoming remake of the classic 1980 comedy Arthur. Gerwig will play the part of an average girl who captures the heart of a drunken spoiled son of privilege originated by Liza Minnelli. Brand will be replacing Dudley Moore in the title role of the rich bad boy while Helen Mirren steps in to the part of Arthur’s faithful servant which won Sir John Gielgud a Best Supporting Oscar for his work.
Gerwig has been making a name for herself in the past couple of years in a number of indie films including LOL, Hannah Takes the Stairs, Baghead and The House of the Devil. Most recently she got good notices for her appearance in Noah Baumbach’s Greenberg.
