With it looking more likely that Sony Picture’s Spider-Man 4 is not going to be in production in time to be completed for its scheduled bow on May 6, 2011, Paramount Pictures have decided to force the issue by moving up the release of their own Marvel Comics superhero film Thor from it’s May 20th release to the 6th.
Of course, Paramount wouldn’t make the move if they weren’t confident that Spider-Man 4 wasn’t going to be delayed. While Sony has made no official announcement, Deadline Hollywood has obtained and published an email from visual effects producer Josh Jaggars encouraging the visual effects crew to look for other work as the production start and release date have been pushed back several months.
As we reported yesterday, the development of Spider-Man 4 has been riddled with disagreements between the studio and director Sam Raimi over what villain the wall-crawling, web-slinging superhero will face off against in the upcoming film. Thor, on the other hand, begins filming this month.
