Back before the holidays, we told you that production on the next James Bond film was currently on hold, though it was hoped that it would go ahead as early as February.
It is now looking as if that plan was a bit of wishful thinking on the part of the producers. A new report from the Express states that pre-production on the follow up to Quantum Of Solace has been halted and that expected February start date for production has been indefinitely postponed.
What is holding everything up is the still pending sale of studio MGM. While the Bond franchise has been a lucrative moneymaker for the studio, it has not been able to single-handedly counterbalance the mounting debt the studio has seen for the past several years. Until a buyer is found or MGM miraculously solves their financial problems on their own, Eon Production, the producers of the Bond films, are hesitant to commit any further resources to the production until MGM’s situation is resolved.
