Let’s face it. John Travolta could use a hit.
It has been over a decade since the actor has appeared in a star vehicle that has succeeded at the box office. Sure, Hairspray and Wild Hogs did sell a lot of tickets, both films were ensembles, not requiring Travolta to do all the heavy lifting.
This summer’s remake of The Taking Of Pelham 1, 2, 3 might not exclusively be a movie to showcase Travolta – he shares billing with Denzel Washington -but it is perhaps his highest profile role in what feels like quite some time. As the leader of a group of terrorists who have hijacked a New York City subway, facing off against Washington’s police lieutenant.
He’s already managed a comeback or two. Can Travolta pull of another? We’ll find out next month when The Taking Of Pelham 1, 2, 3 hits theaters on June 12th. In the meantime, enjoy the new poster for the film below.
