GODZILLA Goes HiDef

godzillarestorationThis past fall, all 28 Godzilla films were broadcast on Japan’s high definition Movie Specialty Channel. Of course, this meant the entire series needed to be remastered for high-def broadcast.

Over at SciFi Japan, there’s a good article on the process of restoration that the films had to go through as part of the remastering. If you’re familiar with the process of film restoration, there is probably not a lot of new information in the piece for you. If you aren’t familiar with how films are cleaned and restored, the article is a good primer on the process. Either way, I recommend giving the article a quick look if only for the before and after pictures of some of the restorations.

And now since we have high-def masters of all the Godzilla films, how about Toho Studios getting on the ball and releaseing them on Blu-Ray?
