If you weren’t watching Fringe last night on Fox, and judging by the reports of the show’s ratings that would be most of you out there, then you probably missed the seven-and-a-half minute sneak peek of the upcoming The Day The Earth Stood Still remake.
Visually, there’s a few interesting shots, but there still has been nothing released that has shown me that this was remake that needed to be done. If all director Scott Derrickson can bring to this project is the hubris that he can tell this story better than Robert Wise, the original film’s director, than I don’t have even low hopes for this at all.
UPDATE: It looks like Fox sent out a bunch of takedown notices over the video. Because, you know, why would you want people to actually see promotional materials for the movie you are promoting?
