Classic Media, whose release of seven early Godzilla films on DVD in 2006 and 2007 rank as the best treatment the classic monster movies have ever received on home video, will be releasing a double disc set of the Japanese giant monster classics Rodan and War Of The Gargantuas as the last volume in their “Toho Master Collection” on September 9.
As with their previous Godzilla releases, Classic Media will include both films original Japanese release version as well as their edited, English-dubbed versions that saw play in American theaters. (George Takei and Keye Luke worked on the American dubbing of Rodan). Unlike the Godzilla releases, there will be no audio commentary, trailers or other special features relaring specifically to the the films in this set. Classic Media is including a new documentary on the history of the Godzilla franchise titled Bringing Godzilla Down To Size. The documentary will be narrated by director Alex Cox and runs 68 minutes.
