I don’t really play or follow video games, so the Prince of Persia franchise is a bit off my personal radar as is the upcoming movie adaptation starring Jake Gyllenhaal. When it comes to video games and movies I know two things. Video games make great documentaries (see The King Of Kong) but make not so great features (see Super Mario Brothers, Doom, Wing Commander, Tomb Raider, BloodRayne, etc.).
Will Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time break that trend? While we’re waiting for its release in May 2010 to find out, Just Jared has scored the first pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal in costume in the titular role. I used to think of him as a skinny guy, but it looks like Gyllenhaal has hit the gym to pump up for the role a bit. However, in the shots at Just Jared Gyllenhaal looks more like a surfer dude than a warrior-prince out to save the world from whatever nastiness warrior-princes generally save the world from.
