Two more installment of The Dark Knight viral marketing have hit Comcast’s On Demand service yesterday, further detailing the crime and corruption rampant in Gotham City that serves as the backdrop for the upcoming film.
The first of the two features Dark Knight star Anthony Michael Hall as newsman Mike Engel discussing the changes in the criminal underworld that have occurred in Gotham since the events of the last film with newspaper reporter James Levine. Much like the first installment of Gotham Tonight, this discussion briefly turns into a debate over the merits or drawbacks to Batman’s vigilante actions. The discussion also serves to remind us that Batman Begins villain Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka The Scarecrow, is still at large as are numerous inmates from Arkham Asylum. A plot point for the upcoming film, perhaps?
The second episode focuses in on the elevation of Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and his elevation to the rank of Lieutenant and head of the newly formed Major Crimes Unit. Of course, the rumors of Gordon working with Batman have brought him under the scrutiny of crusading new District Attorney, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). Teases for future episode promise a more on this conflict and a debate between Gotham Police Comissioner Loeb (Colin McFarlane) and “alleged” mob boss Salvatore Maroni (Eric Roberts).
