Frank Miller’s adaptation of the classic comic hero The Spirit will be arriving a little sooner than anticipated. Originally scheduled for a January 2009 release, studio Lionsgate has moved the film’s premier up three weeks to Christmas Day, 2008.
According to Lionsgate president of theatrical films Tom Ortenberg, the change in date comes following the reception the film’s trailer received when it debuted last month at the New York Comic Con.
Comic-Con fans resoundingly confirmed what we felt in our bones about ‘The Spirit’: this is a great film and an irresistible piece of entertainment… For all of us, it was an easy decision.
