DVD News: BLADE RUNNER: FINAL CUT

Director Ridley Scott has announced that he had finally finished his ”Final Cut” edit of his futuristic noir classic Blade Runner (1982) and that it will be released in a variety of collector’s editions on DVD, Hi-Def and Blu-Ray discs.

This new edit of the film will be available in a two disc Special Edition, a four disc Collector’s Edition and a five disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition. Additionally, the five disc edition will also be available in Hi-Def and Blu-Ray.

All versions of the DVD will also contain a new three-and-a-half hour documentary on the film entitled Dangerous Days. The four-disc edition will contain three additional edits of the film – the 1982 theatrical version, the 1982 international version and the 1992 director’s cut – as well as an additional disc of bonus featurettes and deleted scenes. The five disc set will also include a fifth workprint version of the film and come packaged in a replica of Harrison Ford’s Deckard’s briefcase.

All versions of the discs will hit stores on December 18, 2007.
