     Silent Classic Cabiria Restored: A restored version of the 1914 silent Roman Empire epic Cabiria had its world premier this past Monday in Turin, Italy at Turin’s Royal Theatre and will screen at the Cannes Film Festival this coming May.      Crash-ing Netflix: It is a well assumed notion that an Academy Award win can help a film’s financial potential, but it now looks like an Oscar will be beneficial to the video rental business as well. Netflix has reported that on the evening of this year’s Academy Awards telecast, in which it took home the coveted Best Picture award, Crash was added to customers’ rental queues at a rate 16 times more than normally seen in a comparable Sunday evening 5 hour time span.

 

 

     Deja View: Universal Studios has announced that Will Smith will star in a feature adaptation of the late 1960s television series It Takes A Thief, with David Elliot and Paul Lovett set to write the screenplay.
