2006 Academy Awards Scientific Achievement Contenders
Announced

The Scientific and Technical Awards Committee of the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences have announced 17 nominations for the 2006
Scientific and Technical Academy Awards. After viewing demonstrations of
the various technologies, the committee then submits a list of
recommendations to the Academy’s Board of Governors, who make the final
award decisions. The Scientific and Technical Achievement Awards will be
presented on February 18, 2006.

"This list of
achievements is announced to allow individuals and companies with similar
technology or claims of prior art the opportunity to submit their
technology for review," said Scientific and Technical Awards Committee
Chair Richard Edlund in an Academy press release announcing the
contenders. The deadline to submit additional entries is Thursday,
September 22. |
