Academy Announces Sound Award Contenders

     January 9, 2006- The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced the films that are in consideration for this year’s Academy Award for Achievement in Sound Editing. Ten minute clip reels from each film will be screened for the members of the Academy’s Sound Editing Award committee later this month. The members of the committee will then vote to nominate three of the films for Oscar consideration. The Academy Award nominees will be announced on January 31, 2006.

     The seven films in consideration are-

  • The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

  • King Kong

  • Memoirs of a Geisha

  • Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

  • Walk the Line

  • War of the Worlds
