Independent Sprit Awards Nominations Announced

Noah Baumbach, writer/director of The Squid And The Whale

     Writer/director Noah Baumbach tale of divorce in the early 1980s The Squid And The Whale topped the list of Independent Spirit Awards nominees announced today with nods in eight categories including Best Feature, Director, Screenplay and three of the four acting categories. The other four Best Feature nominees – Brokeback Mountain, Capote, Good Night, And Good Luck and Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada – all received four nominations each.

 

     Voted on by the members of by members of Film Independent and the Independent Feature Project, the Independent Spirit Awards will be awarded on March 4, the day before the Academy Awards, in Santa Monica, California. The cable outlet the Independent Film Channel will broadcast the event live.
