In Remembrance: Daniel Garcia

 

     Daniel Garcia, the actor who rose to stardom in the golden age of Mexican wrestling films in the 1960s, has passed away on October 31, 2006 in Mexico City, Mexico. He was 80.

 

     As the masked wrestler or luchador Huracan “Hurricane” Ramirez, Garcia fought international criminals, vampires a invading aliens in a series of low-budget but immensely popular series of Mexican movies. Garcia assumed the role of “Hurricane” Ramirez from Eduardo Bonada, who played the part of the masked Mexican wrestler in the 1952 film Hurricane Ramirez and appeared in around the world in live wrestling events. Garcia continued appearing at wrestling events and would go on to star in five more films starting with 1962’s The Mystery Of Hurricane Ramirez. However, his real name was never revealed to fans until after he retired in 1987.
